Kuwait Palace
Designs in this Palace were inspired by Topkapi Museum:
Works carried out for Hare and Humphreys
Everything that you see in the images were all hand painted, plastered or gilded over many, many months. The designs needed to be set out and then drawn up onto the walls, then hand painted in and gilded where required. On some of the gilding the client requested it to be aged, so we literally rubbed it back by the desired amount till he was happy. In the polished plastered room, we were asked to do an Arabic design in relief. We done this by digitising the design and cutting out vinyl masks, sticking them on the wall, plastering over them and then peeling them off. The finish was subtle but affective.
